Indigenous Peoples Development Program
Dana joined Tech @ RBC through RBC’s Indigenous Peoples Development Program (IPDP) - a 2-year rotational experience where Associates develop skills and gain exposure across the functional lines of business while having the opportunity to make a community impact. Within the program, Dana has worked as a scrum master, and now is building an Innovation Hub on her charity secondment.
Finding a Community of Support
As someone with an emotional support animal, Dana was also anxious to start a new job with her accommodation needs. The Women in Tech mentorship circles, workshops, and networking nights; and the REACH community have been especially meaningful in building comfort and belonging as an RBC-er.
"Life is simply about playing and having a safe space to tap into your inner child. That's when we're most innovative. At RBC I practice this daily as I am surrounded by creative outlets, advocacy opportunities and helping others. This fuels my passion and purpose so that I am motivated to grow."

Holding Doors Open for Others
"I am a woman in tech, I’m Indigenous. I also live with an invisible disability, and am LGBTQ+. You wouldn’t know by looking at me, but I identify as all of those things, all at once. It's called our Two-Eyed Perspectives from an Indigenous lens, though you may know it as intersectionality. I don’t want to choose between identities or feel that any one of them may limit me."
"By connecting with others experiencing similar challenges, I was able to find my voice and overcome feelings of imposter syndrome and isolation. Now, I make sure to share these stories and lessons to encourage and empower others."
