Sabrina Silvano

Senior Will and Estate Advisor
Sabrina Silvano didn’t expect her career journey to lead her to the trust and estate industry. With two law degrees, a contract negotiation role seemed like a logical choice after her practical training period.

But after nearly a year, she realized she wanted something more from work and applied for a job with RBC Royal Trust. She wanted to specialize in estates and trusts, a field that had interested her in law school.

“Starting out, I couldn’t have envisioned the career growth that was ahead,” she reflects.

Sabrina joined RBC Royal Trust as a Trust Officer. She quickly moved into a Will and estate advisor role, where her legal knowledge gave her a solid foundation as she analyzed documents and navigated complex legal matters to help clients and families form their estate plans.

In addition to job-specific skills, Sabrina says emotional intelligence brings valued perspective to the role. “Being open minded and adaptable is important because we work with clients from all backgrounds,” she explains, “We empathize with grieving families and the comfort we provide makes our work meaningful.”
Those relationships have left a lasting impression. Sabrina is proud to be who her clients to turn to in their time of need. “It’s very fulfilling from a personal standpoint to be able to help people when it matters most,” she says.

Empowering employees so they can best support clients is a key value at RBC Royal Trust. The organization provided Sabrina with the time and resources she needed to earn the Trust and Estate Professionals (TEP) designation, an important achievement as she moved into more senior roles in the will and estate business.

Learning and empowerment can also be informal. Sabrina credits her mentor of more than 10 years for guidance and advice as her career progressed.  “It’s a testament to leaders at RBC Royal Trust,” she says. “They’re open to career conversations and share their knowledge because they want people to succeed.”
With her mentor’s support, Sabrina is taking on new challenges and has recently been promoted to a director role supporting RBC Royal Trust in Eastern Canada.
“This is a fantastic organization to grow your career. If you want to feel good about the work you do, this is the place for you,” she says.
