Vancouver talent fuels RBC's bold technology and innovation strategy

Vancouver has emerged as one of North America's most dynamic hubs for technology and AI. The city's rich diversity, world-class academic institutions and strong tech talent pool have created the perfect conditions for innovation to flourish.

Last November, the RBC Vancouver Innovation Hub opened its doors to what would become a significant chapter in the bank's global transformation story. It started with 350 people working on solutions that have real impact on RBC’s clients. By the end of this year, that number is expected to increase to 600. By 2029, RBC is planning for 1,000 roles supporting the hub across the province, with 440 of those being
entirely new positions.

Collaboration of technology and AI teams

The Vancouver hub hosts a range of specialized technology roles in mostly high-demand areas including cyber security, data science and AI. The hub will also house the Vancouver office of RBC Borealis, a team that has garnered international attention for advancing the state of machine learning, not just applying it.

What makes this program different

“Walk through the Vancouver hub, and you'll see teams collaborating across disciplines. There are AI and machine learning experts, cybersecurity specialists, data scientists and cloud engineers all
working on interconnected challenges in banking. The work is specialized. It's sophisticated. But it's grounded in tangible outcomes that resonate for all Canadians.” - Chandeep Lamba, Senior Director, Technology Workforce Strategy & Transformation
