Group Risk Management

RBC Leadership Development Program

The Group Risk Management (GRM) stream will expose you to unique and challenging assignments while developing your leadership capabilities. This stream falls under the executive direction of our Chief Risk Officer, and supports various GRM teams to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness while gaining practical hands-on experience.

About the Rotations

In this stream you will apply your quantitative skills against challenging assignments, while building a wide breadth of risk knowledge. You will work with senior leaders to develop your leadership skills, while gaining exposure to risk planning, analytics and mitigation. You will be exposed to different risk groups and their highest priorities, including credit, market, operations, strategy and technology. You will complete three core rotations and one elective based on your interests, allowing you to align your rotations to the organizational goals.

Core rotations include:
  • GRM Personal & Commercial Banking
  • GRM Credit Risk
  • GRM Market & Trading Risk

Elective rotations include:
  • GRM Enterprise Risk
  • GRM Operational Risk
  • GRM Cyber Risk
  • GRM Insurance Risk
  • Wealth Management Risk

Sample rotations include:
  • GRM Personal and Commercial Banking: Portfolio Analytics team, Risk Modeling and Basel
  • Market Risk: Fixed Income and Currencies team, Quantitative Risk Analytics
  • Credit Risk: Non-Banking Financial Institutions team, Industrials and Building Materials team
  • Enterprise Risk: Portfolio Strategy & Basel Compliance

Skills We Are Looking For

Master-level graduate
Recent graduates with a Master's degree in Finance/Risk. Preferably: MBA, MA, MS, MMF, MFE.

3-7 years’ working experience
Minimum 3-7 years’ of work experience in a business environment.

Exceptional ​​​​​​​communication skills
Superior verbal and written communication skills to work with senior leaders.

Leadership experience​​​​​​
Leadership experience with the confidence to challenge ideas and speak up.

Advanced technical skills
Financial modeling; Macros & VBA; SQL, SAS, Python, Tableau; R; MATLAB.
